This article explains how to navigate the different features in Card Controls, including setting spending limits, turning cards on or off, managing alerts, viewing transactions, and checking merchant activity. Steps vary slightly depending on whether you are using the nbkc mobile app or a desktop browser. Follow the instructions for your device below to access and manage your card settings.
PLEASE NOTE: Your transaction history will only show transactions made after your card was added to the Card Controls service. Any purchases or activity before that won’t appear here.
Desktop Navigation
Aggregate View
The first screen to appear is the Aggregate View, showing your debit card spending over the past 6 months and recent transactions in the Dates section.
The Categories section displays top spending categories.
The Merchants section lists merchants you’ve transacted with, highlighting top merchants.
My Cards
This section shows all your cards and allows you to update settings for each one.
- Details displays your card number, expiration date, and CVV.

Controls lets you manage:
- Transaction Controls – Limit transaction types and set per-type spending limits. Debit card and ATM limits have maximum caps that cannot be raised online. Contact the bank if higher limits are needed.
- Location Controls – Restrict where your card can be used by radius, city, state, or country.
- Merchant Controls – Monitor recurring transactions, track where your card is saved on file, and limit usage by merchant category.
- Manage Your Card – Customize your card experience. To learn more, click here.
- Freeze Card – Temporarily block transactions without closing your card. If you have recurring transactions on your card, for example a gym membership, those will still process if your card is in a frozen status. To learn more, click here.
Mobile App Navigation
Home
The first screen shows a 6-month summary of transactions in the Dates section of Home view.
The Categories section displays top spending categories.
The Merchants section lists merchants you’ve transacted with, highlighting top merchants.
Cards
Select Cards at the bottom middle of your screen to access card control options. From here, you can update settings, freeze or unfreeze your card, and set different card controls.
- Details displays your card number, expiration date, and CVV (requires entering a Secure Access Code via text or phone call).
