How do I set transaction, location, and merchant controls?

This article explains how Card Controls lets you manage how, where, and when your debit card is used from the nbkc mobile app or desktop browser. You can temporarily freeze your card, set spending limits, block certain types of purchases, and monitor activity in real time. Card Controls provide flexibility and added security, with three main types of controls: Transaction Controls, Location Controls, and Merchant Controls.

Transaction Controls

  • Manage specific types of activity on your card, such as online or international purchases.

  • Assign limits and controls to the selected card.

  • Debit card and ATM limits have maximum caps that cannot be raised online. Contact the bank if higher limits are needed.

 

Location Controls

  • Limit where your card can or cannot be used.

  • Options include:

    • Region Shield – Restrict card usage within specific regions.

    • International Control – Control whether the card can be used outside the country.

Merchant Controls

  • Allow or block transactions by merchant category, such as gas stations, restaurants, or online retailers.

  • View recurring merchants where your card is used and where your card is saved on file.
