Registering your Device for Online Banking Access
Registering your device helps keep your Online Banking Account secure.
When you log in online or the nbkc Mobile App the system will check to see if the device you are using has signed in and registered before. This allows you to bypass the Secure Access Code (SAC) to gain access to your accounts using just Login ID and password or biometrics (i.e. Touch ID, Face ID) if enabled.
If the system is unable to verify you have signed in with the device or browser before you will be prompted to request a new Secure Access Code before you are allowed to log in. When you input the Secure Access Code, you will be asked to Register Device or Do Not Register Device.
Choosing to register your device will bypass the SAC when you sign in.
Choosing not to register your device will require the SAC on each sign-in.
A Secure Access Code is always required when logging in from a non-registered device or browser. It's recommended to use SMS/text message delivery as the preferred method for receiving the passcode.
I registered my device but I am still required to enter it when I log in?
Do you have a virus protection/scanner on your device that runs nightly? This could clear out you cookies/cache which would result in any data for your registered device to be cleared out and will require a new registration.
If you are running on a VPN, this is also a common reason a Secure Access Code could be needed if the VPN is not recognized.
Running your device on a browser that does not save cookies i.e. DuckDuckGo and Brave.
A device or browser becomes unregistered if you delete the application or clear cookies/cache, which will require you to register again.
What if I experience unusual login activity?
If the bank detects login attempts from unusual locations or during travel, your account may be temporarily locked as a security measure. If this happens, contact Customer Support to verify your identity and confirm your login activity.
